Emrys making the news

Learners at Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan will be entering their interview with the manager of Rhyl Football Club for the BBC News School Report News Day on 16th March.

The team is in the process of editing the clips for the final piece, following the advice of Steve Sandry from the BBC. He visted them last week in school and viewed their interview clips, offering valuable guidance and suggestions.

Niall McGuinness is the youngest manager in Europe at 25, which gives the interview a unique perspective. The learners were keen to find out how he came to undertake such a responsibilty and how he has coped with the pressure at such a young age.

Niall, along with Alex Jones, was introduced to the junior reporters by Year 11 learner Tyler Joyce, who is a player at Rhyl’s Academy and knows the pair well. Alex is an ex-pupil of Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan and now plays midfield for Rhyl FC. They spent a morning with the pupils talking about their experiences and what they hoped to achieve.

The final cut of the interview will be available for viewing on the Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan website in the next few days.
