DARE TO ACHIEVE

5A*-G at GCSE was 100% - this was exceptionally good.

Learners performed well on the new Numeracy GCSE with the performance of the learners in the school being in the top 50% of similar schools.

English performance at GCSE was also good being in the top 50% of similar schools - this was a challenge with the new GCSE but a great result.

Learners achievement in the Skills Challenge was exceptionally high - 25% above the national average.

The performance in Science was in the top 25% of similar schools and Year 10 also achieved a good set of results in the summer.

The Capped Point Score (the measure of the performance of learners across five core areas and four other subjects) placed the school in the top 25% of all schools.

welcome to ysgol emrys ap iwan

It is with great pleasure that I take this opportunity to introduce you to Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan.

This is a school with high aspirations for the learners which the school serves, both in terms of their academic performance and their personal development. My staff and I want the best for your child. This means the fulfilment of his or her academic potential and also the development of an individual able to play his or her part in society.

This is achieved by a balance of challenge and support for each individual learner. This we will do in a strong partnership with parents/carers. The school offers a purposeful and well-ordered learning environment, a progressive curriculum, high quality teaching and excellent facilities to support every learner's learning journey throughout the school.

Classroom learning is supported by a variety of additional activities and clubs,  as well as our ever popular opportunities to learn away from the school, which encourage learners to take a wider, outward focus on their learning. The school focus on sport, music and drama is an important feature of our work.

All of our learners are prepared for rewarding personal and professional lives with the intellectual, personal and social qualities and skills needed to make a difference to the communities in which
they live.
