Year 9 at Codi-STEM event

Year 9 learners from Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan attended a Careers fair at Coleg Llandrillo.

It was run by Careers Wales to highlight local work opportunities which linked to STEM Subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). They also learnt about the skills needed for their future employment.

There were lots of stands from local contributors such as Bangor University, North Wales Police and Welsh Water. The learners engaged in interactive workshops and a range of activities where they met many potential employers and role models.

Miss Johanna Hall, who organised the trip said: “There was a fantastic range of activities and experiences for our learners who enjoyed getting hands-on in the workshops. I was very proud of how they conducted themselves and the interest they showed when speaking with the different representatives.”

Jacob Riddle, a Year 9 learner, said: “It was very useful and was a great help in finding out what qualifications I need to join the police.”

Kady Poole- Williams added: “It was very educational and I enjoyed lots of the activities there.”
